Press Pad Information |
Several CANTABeclipse™ tests require the use of a press pad. This page provides information on how to use the press pads supplied with CANTABeclipse™.
CANTABeclipse™ tests that require press pads fall into four categories:
- Tests where the the subject touches one press pad button only - Affective Go/No-go (AGN), Rapid Visual information Processing (RVP), Simple Reaction Time (SRT)
- Tests where the subject touches 2 press pad buttons only - Attention Switching Task (AST), Choice Reaction TIme (CRT), Stop Signal Task (SST)
- Tests where the subject touches one press pad button AND the touch screen - Match to Sample Visual Search (MTS), Reaction Time (RTI)
- There is also the special case of the Graded Naming Test (GNT) where, if the CANTABeclipse option to run tests without using a keyboard has been selected, the test administrator may use the press pad instead of the keyboard to record the subject's responses.
For each of these categories, further details are given below.
Tests where the subject touches one press pad button only For AGN, RVP and SRT, the subject is required to touch one press pad button only. For these tests, the press pad and touch screen should be arranged as shown in the photograph. The subject should use the index finger of their dominant hand for the press pad button. The correct button to use for this, on the Cambridge Cognition 2-button press pad, is the button further from the screen.
Tests where the subject touches 2 press pad buttons For AST, CRT and SST, the press pad and touch screen should be arranged as shown in the photograph. The subject should use both index fingers, one for each press pad button.
Tests where the subject touches one press pad button and the touch screen For MTS and RTI, the subject must use the index finger of their dominant hand for both the press pad AND the touch screen, and the press pad button should be 15cm away from the front edge of the touch screen.
Tests where the administrator uses the press padFor GNT, the test administrator should position the press pad out of the subject's direct line of sight (under the table on the administrator's knee, for example) and press the left button for an incorrect response and the right button for a correct response |
